"When you are young and healthy, it never occurs to you that in a single instant your whole life could change." - Annette Funicello

Psychological Models to Predict and Explain Health Behaviours

There are a number of such models, one of which has already been explored in depth in the pages of Nurturing Potential, namely the Transtheoretical Model of Change that was linked to our Main Theme subject of Change and Transformation.

With a backward look at the original article - and its associated references - we go on to introduce some other models such as the Health Belief Model, Self-Efficacy, and the Precede-Proceed Model.

By and large all these models are intended for self-help or for reinforcement by professional health practitioners.

Further models will be the subject of articles in our next issue of Nurturing Potential.
